2008 Water Quality Report is Now Available
The Consumer Confidence Report (CCR) Rule (40 CFR, Part 141, Subpart 0) requires all community water systems to prepare and distribute a brief annual water quality report summarizing information regarding source, any detected contaminants, compliance, and educational information.  The purpose of the CCR is to improve public health protection by providing educational materials to allow consumers to make educated  decisions regarding any potential health risks pertaining to the quality, treatment, and management of their drinking water systems.

The Athens-Clarke County Public Utilities Department issues an annual CCR in compliance with the rules of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (US EPA) and the Georgia Environmental Protection Division (GA EPD).  A CCR is mailed in June of each year to all customers of the Athens-Clarke County Public    Utilities Department.  The Athens-Clarke County Consumer Confidence Report is available online by clicking here.

Hard copies are also available at the Athens-Clarke County Water Business Offices located at 596 Prince Avenue  and 1055 Gaines School Road, #110 and at the Administration offices located at 1865 West Broad Street, Suite C.   For more information please call the Water Conservation Coordinator at 706-613-3729.

Outoor Watering Rules Have Changed

On June 10, 2009 the Director of the Georgia Environmental Protection Division placed the entire state of Georgia under a non-drought schedule for outdoor water use.  In order to comply with State requirements Athens-Clarke County has changed its Outdoor Watering Restrictions.

According to State requirements, outdoor water use is allowed three days a week on assigned days using the odd and even-numbered address schedule.

Odd-numbered addresses can water on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays.

Even-numbered and unnumbered addresses are allowed to water on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays.

Water use may occur at any time of the day on the assigned days, but to be water efficient, landscape watering should not occur between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Car washing, pressure washing, filling of pools, etc. are allowed without restriction.

Please call the Athens-Clarke County Water Conservation Office at 706-613-3729 for more information.
